Or did she....

For my Birthday on my list was a Shimano Symeter 3000, but they did not have them in stock so she brought me a Stradic 3000.

Oh it looks so flash on the ole rod, so now I have to get a new rod to match.

Prob a 3-6kg 7 ft + under $150 if I could

Ideas anyone ?

Btw, just a little excited.

Check out the Daiwa Generation Blacks. I got my Stradic 3000 on a Wild Weasel. Love it. Not quite 7ft but long enough. Can get them well under $150. I have used it on bream and estuary through to 20lb goldens and reefies.

Hi Kind cir,

For the money it is hard to go past the shimano raiders and pflueger trions. Plenty of other good options though. Go to a well stocked tackle shop up your way and try a few out and see what feels best for you coupled with the stradic.

Cheers

All good choices mentioned above. I run my Stradic 3000 on a 2-4kg STP PRO Light Spin. It has knocked over several 80cm Snapper as well as Spotties and Schoolies. The Midspin 3-6kg may be a little stiff for lighter work but would be a great rod for heavier plastics and metal slugs. The 7'6" Flats Spin is also worth a look. I wish my wife would make mistakes like that. The STPs and Daiwa Generation Blacks have better blanks than some of the others. The STP guides can be an issue at times since Shimano downgraded the specs on the STP range. The Daiwa Generation Black 3-6kg is a nice rod with good components but the front EVA grip feels a bit strange to me

You sure have a good Mrs there mate.....upgrading instead of downgrading and pocketting the change.
I like the Pflueger Trion 3-6kg spin stick, much more grunty than it looks but still is sensitive and casts well.

Got a Raider II with a normal butt, 3-6 kg 6'10". Could of got it $30 cheaper at T W but the bloke there was an ass and I walked out. Trying to talk me into much bigger outfits with 5-6000 reels and 30 -40 lb braid, just in case I get a mac tuna. ( Wtf...in the river ) Cause he fishes for them all the time. Guess he missed the part where I said it was to match the Stradic 3000 I got for me Birthday.

The fellas at B J's listened and spent some time with me and were a great help. B cee F had no clue.

Plueger Trion 3-6kg is a good stick but I reckon the butt is too long. It used to get caught in my shirt when casting.

I chopped about 5cm off the butt of mine and now it's much nicer.

They have good Fuji hardware but the bindings look like they've been done by a blind man in an earthquake.

Nice looking blank though and performs very nicely. I paid $100 at a BC sale and happy enough with that.

Agreed. Love mine on my stradic 3000. Can pick one up around 99 bucks.
Ohhhh if it was my misses I would of ended up with the next one down. LoL She will be expecting fish now. What lb braid you going to put on?

maybe you should just fess up and take it back. then you can use your crappy ol rod again and pocket the cash yourself...

I'd recommend the pflueger trion or maybe even a shimano raider soft plastic, they do a 3-6 in that, feels like a great rod..

I eeckon it's hard to beat the raiders for your money - I have a brand new 2500 Stradic Ci4 on a new Mexixan fire 1-3 kg, 6lb braid. Magic. My favourite set up.

Also have a 3-6kg (I think) raider with a Daiwa 3000 freams - again, really nice to cast with.

Yep, as per previous post, I went with the Raider II mex fire 3-6 kg 6'10", spooled with 10 lb power pro yellow. Only thig is it has not stopped raining or blowing since, so in my short outings I've not put it to the test much. So far, a small est cod, 26cm bream, and a droped 50 - 60 cm Flattie.
Hope to get out today if it stops raining up here.
