A good mate and I headed to the Pine to see whether the fishing had improved since the rain. Got on the water around 5:30am, dropped the pots and went to look for some prawns. On the way through the highway bridge we tried Freeeedom's trick and dropped a bit of burley. Couldn't find any prawns and only one mullet but got a heap of bony bream and herring.

Anchored up under the bridge before the high and fished through it for only one keeper bream. There was a fair bit of debris in the water and it was still quite brown with fresh.

After the turn we decided to pull the pots (couple of jennies) and head for the mouth. Scattered the pots between Dohles Rocks and the bridges and crossed over to Hays Inlet to try for some 'tings. Found a heap of 20cm to 22.5cm models on the banks but only one keeper. Pulled the pin before lunch and was saved from disgrace by a couple of nice bucks in the pots closest to the mouth.

Had a great morning with the bonus of a feed.

Have fun,

Dave

PS. How's the best way in/out of Hays Inlet after the tides dropped. I never know which pylons to go through and the signs confuse me - any tips appreciated.

onya dave. Best way through hayes is head through 3rd bay between pilons from bay side and keep going on 45 degree angle through the under the other bridge and stick as close to the end of the fishing platform as thats where the channel is.
Problem is everybody has their lines straight off the end of it so at low tide you will prob cop some abuse.
Gets very shallow once you get down near the pipe.
