Latish start and crossed South Passage with hardly any swell into a 20 knot rain squall. Bit iffy for a while whether to continue. Plan was to catch a Wahoo. Trolled around Middle Banks , Boat Rock and a bit South of Point Lookout. Used two metal jet heads, Resin head and one Black/Gold Bibbed Hard Body. Chop eased off pretty quickly to a nice day.
The Marin hit was on the only hard body we had out and was very soft We had no idea what it was until it took off out of the water. Had it alongside in about ten minutes after some tricky 360s around the boat.
It left us with an enthusiastic leap over the out board as we tried to release it. It just shook the hooks like it did it every day.
We ran back over the strike area around Middle Reef and all the bait was hard on the bottom. The bait south of Boat Rock was all up on the surface
Memorable fish but no time for cameras
