Haven't posted in a LLLOONNGGG time, as I haven't had any catches worth reporting about in a LLLOONNGGG time >:( There have been the odd tailor, a few flathead and a fair few bigeyes about landbased.
Anyway, just after Christmas I was keen to hook into some Tweed bigeyes for a family feed. Was throwing slugs in the moonlight, and had landed 3 bigeyes of around 50cm when I suddenly hooked into something a bit more feisty than the regular bigeyes (which are good fun on 10lb gear anyway!!)
After a lengthy battle I managed to land this nice landbased Tweed GT at 69cm, dunno how I got it right with the tide running strongly, and oyster-covered rocks well-exposed. The 10lb braid and 20lb leader were singing very high notes in the breeze throughout the fight.
Needless to say I was very happy with this catch, and the family and friends we had over the next day had a feast of bigeye and GT in lemon-pepper dusted flour.

How did he go on the plate mate? Have wondered about their eating quality.
