Hey guys,

Been in north brisbane for a while, usually fishing the banks of the pine and cabbo rivers. Finally rewarded myself with a new boat for Christmas and decided to hit all the known hot spots....but to no avail. So I thought i'd ask the experts. Can anyone reccomend some good spots on the northside??

Cheers

I've been doing well up the passage.. Mouth of ningi creek is good for bream. Flatties along the other side in about a metre of water on top of the tide. If you drift along the edges of the weed beds usually produces a few lizards. I lost a massive one at the boat yesterday!! Mission point is also good.. Cab river mouth is good on its day, but usually gets belted after 10am from the easterlies in summer. PM me I will be happy to give some spots..

Don't be too disheartened because you're not catching much at the moment. The hot northerly weather we've been having, plus the lack of any decent rain for a few months have combined to make for a very ordinary start to the year for the estuary fisherman. I was out in the Pine last week and the water temperature was 29 degrees and there was still quite a bit of weed to contend with. I only brought home 5 fish for about 6 hours work. Yesterday I fished the bribie passage and again only brought home 8 fish and 2 crabs, which is well below expectations. Some decent rain, a few good southerly blows and a drop in the temperatures should see things start to improve.

Are you lure or bait fishing?
