very nice thanks Willo, at $50 i'll definitely be getting one, did it come with a housing for underwater use as standard? did you have it on a pole when it was looking under the boat?
thanks.

There is also a issue with lens fogging up on a hot day in the water proof houseing...But this is not confined to the Gear2Go cam, all have this problen including the Go Pro ans also have the problen with my sony cam in a big water proof housing
There is some product available to put inside the case to stop it..so the story goes ..not sure what it is called yet...But on Hot days keep an eye on the lens fogging caused by humidity

there's some similar products in the scuba diving scene but don't know if they're worth it. best thing for a scuba mask is a bit of spit rubbed around the inside, not very practical for camera housing though, i think if you had the case open until you went to use it that might help as the humidity couldn't build up, otherwise submerge the case (closed obviously), the bring it back up, wipe the inside with a cloth, insert the camera and try that... lmk how you go.

There is stuff called 'cat crap' that we use for motor bike helmet visors to stop fogging up. It works a treat and I have used it to stop the sunnies fogging up when using a buff on hot days.

I can't find them on the Kmart online store. Any idea if there available at all Kmart stores Australia wide? And also what section of the store are they in?
Cheers, Mitch

Use silica gel packet in housing if there is room for it to absorb moisture from air in housing. Or put camera and housing in a plastic ziplock bag with gel packet and leave for a while and then close housing before opening the bag. ( old timer showed me this with expensive camera / electronics equipment in tropics as old housings were very tight tolerances and days of preventing mould on real film or inside of lenses) My only warning is some electronics and things rely / need / designed fo some level of moisture in the parts / seals to work so don't store and let things get sucked totally dry.
http://www.silicagel.com.au/
I've used this with other gear as well and original rain x on outside of visors . Most of these coatings change the optics slightly and correct application on clean lens and correct cloth are critical.
http://www.rainx.com/product/glass-and-cleaners/rainx-anti-fog/
Like with everything always do a test if you don't know someone using the exact product with your housing long term. I've stuffed / discoloured some older expensive housings trying different things and spotless clean with pure detergent , compressed air and a silica pouch is my fallback. Still hurts wrecking even cheap gear. Avoid any amonia based glass cleaners or solvent based ones.

Couldn't get one from Kmart Rockhampton, they sold out before Xmas. Found some at Harvey Norman for $79. Normally $139. Looks ok for the price. Can't wait to try it.

Camera is going fine but the mounts are not good SS if at all. Going to replace all the threaded stuff with 316 SS. Got rust stains happening as it has been permanetly mounted on my rocket launcher. Had a fair bit of fogging so am trying a silicone sachet out of a shoe box to see how that goes.

I just bought one of these from KMart for fifty bucks. Are people still happy with theirs?

All the fittings are gal. Left a lot of rust stains on my boat as I had the mount permantently attached. Have changed all the parts I could to SS. The strap fitting is worth a try to get setup somewhere as well but I used the clamp and changed it to a SS U bolt and wing nuts. No sign of fogging since I put a gel satchet inside.

Hi guys,
Went to grab the gear2go for its third trip out and the screen had lines through it and wouldn't turn off, so reset it with a paperclip then formatted the card and still having issues, so finally reset it again and tried without the card and unfortunately it's stuffed so I'll be straight back to the shops! Going to spend a bit more and get a contour roam or gopro.
Cheers,
Nick.

Just a heads up, got a second one for $40 today at Sams Warehouse Maroochydore. They had two left. I saw at Christmas time the Reject Shop were doing them for $45 but our local one closed down and the closest one was Caloundra. Had a double check on EBay and they are down to about $43 delivered to your door now. My original one is going great but I have the date and time stamp on it. Wanted another without that and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. For $40 for a new on and $14 for an SD card can't go wrong. Home made SS fittings working a treat. Still get fogging at times.
