Am changing some rods and reels around and am going to need a new reel to pair with a Daiwa 1-3kg 6'6 rod. I want the reel just as a whiting/flattie rod running 6 or 8 lb mono and will also have it setup for jigging for livies so it doesnt need any baitrunner features etc. Budget would be under a hundred, just something light yet reliable.....

SOL? I have the SOL on my 2-4kg... comes with spare spool.
Sorry missed the budget bit.

shimano sienna for $50,or my next step up would be a daiwa legalis for around $130 on ebay.

You could have a look at the new daiwa aird. Has 2 spools. Only downside is the plastic handle (just annoys me, works fine though).

For under $100, Symetre 2500 FJ would be my pick...

The only disadvantage in buying a shimano or daiwa is most of the money being a brand name reel.
You know like” nike” sneakers when others exist.
I’d be looking for something else beside those two
