Hi all, went down to my local creek again (Cooroman) here near Yepooon lastnight. Got there pumped a few yabbies, jigged up some live herring off the pontoon, and fished off the pontoon jetty with the incoming tide. 4 rods out two with live yabbies, 2 with herring. Caught 2 very undersized Grunter and 1 pike eel.

This is my 5th trip in the last 2 weeks, at what point to you give up and say there are no fish there ?

Yes that would be a bit disheartening. Don't give up though as there could be a reason other than "no fish there" I don't know the area personally but have a friend up there who told me there is not not a lot around in close. I think he tends to fish for mackeral etc around the islands and out wider on the reefs on a good day. All I can suggest is to talk to as many locals as possible and see what the go is.
Good luck with it..

Hooks too large? Too heavy tackle? Wire trace? Could be any number of reasons apart from there being no fish mate. Dont give up till you have exhausted all possibilites!

14lb braid, 40lb fluro carb leader on live herring, 3/O gamakatsu live bait hook

4-6lb briad, 8lb fluro carb leader on yabies, normal long shank chem sharpened hook

both just enough lead to holf bottom.

Only caught 1 pike eel there so far. And I have not seen anyone else catch anything there either.
