Apart from the zaion rotor, I don`t think it has changed that much from the old model. Wouldn`t it be great if they could get an anti reverse clutch that big in an overhead reel.

certaintly looks much nicer than the old model imo. i thought the old model was rather noisy and quite dated looking. i think the new ones differ from the old by having mag seal too.

he does a great review. i have a 4500h and a 6500 in the old models and cant fault them although the 4500h is not as smooth as it should be. the 6500 in particular is bullet proof and has been used on a pro boat nearly every other weekend for well over 2 years and is still as good as new and never had a service. i couldnt guess the number of fish it has caught while jigging and bottom bashing. i wonder how the catalina stacks up against a stella though ? for my money nowadays i would probably go for a stella even though i have had great service from my catalinas.

To be honest I wouldn't get one. Based on his list on then comparing to price a Penn Torque or Shimano Stella would be better options. It really just points out ot me the absurd price of the new Saltiga.
Also, given the fact there will be a new Stella coming out next year there will be some great deals on the horison for the current model as they clear them out to make way for the new model.
Might be the right time then to get a Stella or Twinpower at an awesome price.

I have too many mate!
Including the missus I have a Stella 5000 and 10000, a Twinpower 6000 FC and Twinpower 5000 SW, a Saltiga Expedition, a Daiwa Ryoga Bay Jigger, a Torsa 16 (pretty much donated that to my brother), a couple of Curado E7s and a bunch of other stuff like Penn Conquers, slammers and some Quantums etc. note the etc. Ridiculous really and I really need to sell some like my Tekota. I'm actually having a sale on this weekend for the custom rods I've been building if you wanted to pop over for a beer. It's on Sat 7 to noon.

Hey Daintree, any rods that would match with a Saragose 18000 or a Penn Slammer 560 you might have on sale?
