Hi guys went out for a night fish at the bribie island passage, was a great night as the water was nice and smooth almost like glass...

There was much going on a little quite on the fishing side even with the other boats on the water, but ended up bring in two nice bream.
At one stage there i was thinking it's a little quite then the reel goes nuts big run big head shake, within the first 30 sec had almost taken half of my spool (300m of 15lb) and was thinking stop,,,,.
Got it turned and was haven a good fight, got it back to about 20mts from the boat and the line goes slack F*$K F*!K F^%K was all i could say, still dont know what it was but would of loved to seen what it was....
It was a great night out and still got 2 nice bream in the esky.. oh first bream was 28cm and 2nd was 27cm.

If the weather stays as good as it is, i my go out again tuesday night..

What bait were you using barra? i was thinking of a night fish for whiting near donnybrook using yabbies to try and get into some whiting, does anybody else ever give this a go?.

Hi alleycat, i was useing prawns mate, also had squid, pillys but didnt get many hits on the squid and no hits on the pillys..

was thinking about hitting up the whiting on tuesday night to see if they are in, but not to sure on where to go at donnybrook. I guess any of the sand bars with a drop off would be the go i think..

I was up there this morning having a look for some summer whiting and sand crabs for the first time this summer. Pumped a stack of yabbies and tried a couple of my usual spots. Ended up with a real mixed bag but nothing to get excited about. Caught 10 bream (kept 3), 4 tarwhine (kept 1), 2 grunter (kept 1), 1 flathead (0), 1 Moses perch (0), 3 summer whiting (2), 7 sandies (2), 1 big mud crab (1), 1 coral crab (1) and a couple of stingrays. The tide wasn't quite big enough to make my favourite summer whiting spot fire, but there were very few fish about anyway. Still the weather conditions were good and it was nice to be out on the water - sure beats working!
