On the water at 5:45 am for a solo trip despite the blowy forecast. I dropped the crab pots off and headed to spot x for a session on SPs. The usual story unfolds: no bites for 2 hours on SPs. Lucky i smuggled some stinky onboard... just incase.
First cast on stinky buckles my rod over with a 37 cm snap. Then, while the stinky stick is minding itself, I persist with the SPs... to no avail :(
Eventually, I swapped the SP rig over to stinky and surprise, surprise... both rods go off at the same time. I had my work cut out for me - second snap just thrown in the boat, which measured later to be 44 cm. Grabbed the converted SP rod and "Yeehah!"... after a bit of a tussle in comes a 48 cm snap ;D
Lunchtime saw heavier clouds forming and the wind pick up again. Just before heading home, I hooked on to a 43 cm snap and a bream. All caught on bait.
Called it quits at 12ish and picked up the pots for a single sandie. A really great day that I won't forget too soon!

nice one , good to see a few snapps still hanging out in the river. it was blowy down there this morning but would have been ok close to the south side wall.

You had to pick you hiding hole, or you would be moving from side to side, up and down.:sick2:

Bag out? what bag out? the limit is 5 darren, so ya came home sly 1 snap of a bag out, but still good going in that breeze, time for you to give yourself completely to the stinky side of angling, that means giving me all your plastics lol..

Good reward for heading out with that forecast
I knew the spot that I wanted to fish was protected and the whole morning I only recall seeing one other person fishing in the area.
Alleycat = Was doing a bit of drifting when I first got there, but a little uncomfortable for me. So anchor up and had a couple of cups of coffee. For the plastics, I'll keep going with them.
Maybe I'll give you some bait to try and I'll also throw in a rag so you can wipe your hands.;)

Goods stuff Darren, nice feed. Keep persisting with the SP's mate. Come up to Caloundra one weekend and we will get amongst the flatties on them if you want.
