crabbing regs

i am taking the missus and my oldest boy crabbing and whiting fishing on the weekend. I have got 4 of my mates crab pots at home as well as the 4 i usually take.
They have his name all over the floats and tags etc.
My question - can i take all 8 pots and use mate's 4 pots if i have missus with me?
I normally am the only one crabbing in my boat so always only have the 4.
i can only find this on daff website..

" In tidal waters, when fishing for blue swimmer crabs, mud crabs and spanner crabs, no more than four crab pots or dillies (or a combination of pots and dillies) may be used per person. Also a person must not possess more than four crab apparatus per person, on a boat on the water.
Crab pots and dillies must be marked by an identifying tag bearing the surname and address of the owner.
When not attached to a fixed object (for example tied to a tree above the high water mark), all crab apparatus must have a light coloured surface float attached. The float must not be less than 15 cm in any dimension and must be marked clearly with the owner's name. "

Now, i understand it says 'the owners name' but does that restrict her or my young fella from borrowing them? i would hate to have to try and change the name on tags/floats for just 1 trip

Dean, I think i read somewhere that borrowing your mates pots could land you in hot water. I believe with all the contriversy surrounding the raiding of pots you would have to come across quite a generous fisheries officer to let you off the hook with the "they're me mates pots though..." excuse. I would go to the effort of changing the tags on the pots and perhaps just swapping the floats over to some of yours (or your partners) just in case.:)

no problems using his pots at all mate, i had the same questions ages ago so i rung the dpi an fisheries an they said its fine ive been pulled up 3 times by fisheries checking pots an have had problems, but make sure you let your mate know you will be using them so if they contact him he can confirm its ok
