To me it would use the same amount of friction to take the swirl out of the line.. only difference is that the conventional guides do it over 6 or 8 guides and the microwave ones do it all at the initial guide..

I doubt it would cast any further but it may make it feel better without the slap of line going through the finer part of the rod.
