Well you live in the right area. If you put in the time and get enough mosquito and midgee bites in Coochin/Bells/Husseys etc. you should get one. Had come guys on my boat the other day who fish land based there and get them on live poddy mullet. Lots of waiting and getting the right fish to make a mistake but they get them.

Josh, the creeks Smithy mentioned all hold jacks. The formula is simple the effort isn't. The formula ( for me anyway) equals....... time , livies ( lures if you want a bigger challenge) , rock bars or good snags , eddies, tide , very late nights and of course a known Jack area (you live in one)
there was a good Jack post put up here by Gecko I think some couple of years ago that is worth reading.
As has been said before Jacks live under people feet in most instances , you just have to work ( sometimes very hard) for them. There is no real mystery, keep it simple. Sometimes my rig ( when I can ) consists of a single hook tied to the end of the line only with a livie on it ,no sinkers no swivels nothing else. Tide , depth and location will dictate the type of rig . Regularly use 30lb braid and 55lb schneider leader drag locked up and still get dusted but that is half the fun.

Think may be better numbers and easier to find around man made structures rock walls pylons etc , Surfers in background 16cm live mullet
Good luck Cheers

Plenty of jacks in your local creeks, give it about a month and you will not have a drama finding them......boating them however is a bigger challenge.
FWIW I got dusted in one of the passage creeks three weeks ago twice in 20 minutes......they are about. Also worth mentioning is the really good looking snags generally are way overfished by the dozens of guys venturing into the systems already this season.

Pick a likely spot and fish it with live mullet. I find if you pin them to the bottom they get eaten easier as they panic more. Fish your chosen spot at low then high run in run out and try to time these times with about 10pm onwards.. if you dont get anything then try another spot.. if you do this, you will catch one it will be just a matter of time. If ya let em go you can catch them again :) Lineclass will depend on the territory, ive got spots where 15kg isnt enough sometimes and other spots where 3kg is fine. A good mate of mine landed a 60cm last week on 3kg and 15lb leader. i was standing two foot away when he hooked it the bugger... good luck mate its addictive.

Well went to Coochin to fish the run in tide caught some live poddy mullet and found some good structure. After about an hour something hit real hard fought for about 10 min then busted my 20 pound leader :-(. I'm devastated and no other bites or anything
