Was up between toorbul and donnybrook today and was surprised to see a boat with 4 people on it stop on a sand bank and bring out some blue tubs and a big net, the net was set out in a large circle by the boat, the net would have been at least 80 metres long or more, the net was then pulled back to the sand bank and as they pulled they would slap the ropes on the water, the fish were takenb fro net and put into the tubs, now firstly i thought pros were banned from the passage and secondly i didnt think pros were allowed to operate on sundays, does anybody have a phone number i could call to see as i got his rego number..

Good idea to take photos of this sort of thing also as these can be used as evidence.

Ive seen a boat in that same area a few months ago that matched that description using blue tubs with his kids catching bait and the net was a legal length drag net with long tow ropes on each end which is also legal, next time go and talk to them if they are the same guys they are very nice and only take specific bait in small quantities as i found out myself whilst watching and talking to them for an hour. i learnt how to catch bait without getting wet hence the long tow lines.

Bait nets can only be pulled by a person and not shot out by a boat, there is limits on ropes as well.

the rego on a pro's boat will (is suppose to) be black letters/numbers on a yellow shaded background.

Like the one that continues to shoot a gill net out from the rocks just south of the bridge at night when the tides are right, an yes it has been reported in the past, must go in the to hard basket as nothing seems to get done about it.
