I dont fish gold coast anymore unless I can be sure the netters haven't been there in the last week. I often head down to kingscliff, under the impression that there is not netting there. Seems I am wrong as last sat night I saw a netter going up the beach.
Good luck with them.

Mate there were heaps the other day down Tweed , i will put you right on to them
Take Kennedy Drive exit off Hwy, follow it alongside River until you get to a place on the left hand side of the road
Has big sign up Scales Seafood , they were in there in the fresh fish section
Hope that helps , besides that i have'nt seen any
Hope you find some soon mate ,
Cheers ;D

Mate not last weekend but the weekend before I hooked a nice one down Cabarita, was big, jumped a lot too, lost it at the shoreline buggering around with it trying to wait for a wave...... :hammer:
The only way I catch them down there is throw out big baits, wait for that big rouge that marauds the channels when there is a few bait fish around.
Other than that I never catch more than one, never seen a good school or never seen any tell tale Birds feeding above a feeding school.
IMO the schools are not present, so throwing slugs is a bit pointless.
I fished last weekend and the beach was very, VERY quiet indeed.
I had great bait out, fresh sand worms and Bonito slices for bream and tried larger Bonito chunks and pike pieces for a larger fish, was very disappointing, did not lose a bait :o
Oh well.....

The sandpumping jetty was a frenzy about two weeks ago... it was the most disgusting thing i have ever seen.. shoulder to shoulder to mid way up the jetty and for at least a klm down the beach.. can someone tell me what the hell you are going to do with 20 tailor each.. bugger the netters the people fishing this stretch did a far better job of cleaning up the fish.. At least the end of the jetty was empty so i could get some yakkas to go somewhere quiet to livebait.
How anyone can call this fun is beyond me.
so anyway.. just look for the huge mob of ppl and thats where the fish are.

I personally think 20 is far too many as well. I usually only keep 2 or 3 as I will only eat them fresh.

Guys
The last few weeks has been really easy to bag out on Tailor. There's great water all the way from Kingy South Beach to Cabarita. If you couldn't get a feed you weren't trying. I was casting out and handing over to my 8 year old and he was catching them it was that easy. Also some nice Jew around.

wow got my first dislike for a post! Trymyluck... ok i will...
I love fishing, and catching tailor off the beach can be fun for sure.. I guess I should have posted a thread/gripe about what i saw somewhere separately..i admit that now.
It just made me sad i guess to witness what i saw that particular night.. buckets and buckets and buckets and buckets and buckets ( ok you get the picture) of tailor.
Anyway guess if everyone likes what you have to say then you dont really have your own opinion hey :)

MudRiverDan,
I have had days like that down at Wooyong, going down there again this Friday and try again, yeah I know it will be stinking N or NE wind, might get an odd sea bream on the other rod

Nathank,
I've been on that sand pumping jetty in the past , you have good days and bad days, yes also very very crowded days too, including the odd stabbing when police were required on a particular night many moons ago. Crowded areas is not my scene. Just need to find good gutters with some baitfish.

Where is or where do you call Kingy South Beach starts from?
I was down there a month ago walking down some track near a bend in the road with Sign saying Kingscliff 11.
Is that the area called Kingy South Beach or is that a lot of cobblers?
There's a caravan park lining the beach for some distance and Police Station opposite. Is that spot also part of South Beach at Kingscliff ?

Don't worry about it Nath. I witnessed the carnage and ridiculous numbers of people fishing. A few of us set up on the beach fishing next to each other north of the SPJ and then a tribe came and basically slotted in between us shoulder to shoulder. I said my piece but i don't think they understood english. Then they tangled our lines..., and we left after a few tailor; not worth it. The Inspectors were around busting a few.

Some of us fish differently.
Personally I prefer a quiet spot and fish for less fish but bigger, rather than grapple it out for elbow room.
Those yakkas are gun bait, wish I could get some land based around the bay.
good luck.

MudRiverDan,
I'm the same way inclined i.e. fish a quiet spot , there are a few places but bugger all fish were I've been , still persevering though.

Dan.. they are gun bait for sure.. its the only landbased spot i know to get them anywhere up here.. im originally from south NSW and i used to get them off the jetties and directly of the rocks everywhere down there... up here though wow.. it took me years of searching to finally get them land based.. Anyway now i have just bought an offshore boat it doesnt matter anymore lol.. but for jewies they are dynamite!!!! well worth the effort of locating and carting them out in an aerated bucket thats for sure..

I have been getting the odd couple of fish, but I have been putting in a LOT of hours for the minimal result, akin to hours spent chasing jew :-0, I have been using fresh flesh baits only......

I was there last night, about 5.30pm tide looked to be running out and was at blk rock, zilch, strong rip to the south. If I had a Fourby I'd be there also but no go for me for the next 3 years at least.
