What a magnificent fish, and there lies the stupidity of the nsw rules regarding flathead, good on your mate if he let her go but by law you are allowed to keep 10 fish per day and 1 fish per day over 75cm, i mean how often do you catch a 75cm plus flathead?.

That is a fantastic fish.
We've seen a couple of giants on Ausfish recently. Please tell me that the extra photos are on a drag mat or have the measure beside them, I would love to see a meter plus flatty picture with a measure beside it one day (I am not suggesting that anyone is lying, I would just really like to see one of these m+ flatties and especially a 110+cm one with a measure in order to end the debate about their existance)

Tim a guy i work with's dad has an old pic of a flathead that HIS dad caught off the wall at shorncliffe many many years ago up on his wall at home. The fish is laying next to a ruler, you can not make out the exact length figure, but you can see up to the number '118' quite clearly back what looks to be about 5cm from the tip of its tail. Then the numbers start to blur
Looks to me to be around 125cm long.

Top fish. Congratulations.
One question though, my biggest flathead ever went 95cm and weighed 6kg exactly (on certified scales). A flathead 116cm long and only weighing 4.2kg seems very light.
You need new scales mate.

there`s always one isn`t there.
I don`t need new scales as it was "not my fish" as stated very early in the post!
also I`m not your mate !
I just thought that a meter plus lizard would be great for the punters to see as I would love to see a pic of one also.
maybe yours ate a small child before you caught it !
your second post for the year grumpy dude and its a ripper !
maybe you should share your picture of your 95 hanging of "certified scales" for us all to see.

Sorry you feel that way fish_gutz. As I said in my post , it's a top fish. Congratulations to whoever caught it. Any flathead over a metre is a monster and I just would have expected it to go a lot heavier.
It wasn't my intension to take the p*ss in any way, shape or form. I just normally do accurate measures and weights on any fish I worth putting in the photo album.
Perhaps my third post for the year will be better recreived.

no worries ,all good , I may of had some grumpy pills yesterday when reading your reply ! thanks for clearing it up , but like mentioned , it was not my fish , it was caught in potsville and the fellow who caught it is a reliable bloke who is not in the buisiness of talking it up about his fish. as for accurate measures , the fish took out first prize in a recent flathead competition so I assumed that they would not be using inferior or non calibrated scales and measurements . I don`t know what else to add but maybe I should just stick to posting my own fish pics up that I know have been weighed and measured correctly.

OK for all those who want to see a 1m flatty. I have put this up before and "ITS NOT MY FISH"...and I can not verify that the bragmat was accredited by any national QA weights and measures standard :P

Stonecold using the chequreplate as a measure, and factoring in the angle and shutter height, I can say with scientific certainty that your flattie is 101.7692341 cm long.

Duno where it as caught lump..cant remember. Its not my fish. I posted it several years ago in a thread called show us your biggest flatty or something. I had found the pic on another site. I was amazed nobody had grasped the enormity of the picture. It took about 3 posts for some d**k to tell me that it was from a rival site and was taboo. That was about the last meaning full post/thread I posted...hence my sarcasm with the weights and measures.
