Hi all ,
Im a avid beach fisherman spend countless nights off the beach and last nigh the conditions were too good, small surf light offshore wind and no current. Got down to my lil gutter round 1am on the high tide straight away got dusted by wat im sure was a huge tailor could feel him jumping, but i went to hard and pulled hooks.... RRRRR my mind was thinking damn another bad night. 20 mins later i got smashed good 30-40m of line poor of damn a shark, than it stopped bucked and thumped Hmmmmmm maybe a jew. After another 5 mins landed wooow was not expecting that.Just shy of 19kg soooooo i was soooo stoked was gonna go home but thought stuff it lets fish till 5am. Heaps of tailor came in no quality ended up with around 9 . Ended up filleting one and throwing a slab out bang within 1 min i had a strange fight on my line lots of solid head bangs . What the a solid snapper came in weighed in at 5.8kg not huge but off the beach what a shock.

A week ago went up the spit mixed it with the crowds for a few choppers , once a year's enough of that for me back down south
Had a bit of bad luck down your way , missed two very large fish different nights , broke one off and didn't get the hooks in to the other , thinking probable big silver boys ,that's i was aiming for
That is a cracking photo , very impressive ;)

I am not even going to try and top that effort Scott, but i do have plenty of mack tuna and other fresh bait from this mornings paddle so i might soak a few slabs off a beach somewhere soon. Don't forget the days newspaper in the greenback shot. That is def a stonker trout btw.

great catch in zero swell conditions .... who would imagine that??
There are some great little gutters around at the moment ... only producing choppers for me though!
Tx for the report

You are def the favourite atm Scott. I wouldn't worry about the days paper but, i was only joking, i don't think there would be too many doubters out there. I would take a stonker jew and snapper over a greenback any day, but having said that i would be happy with a greenback any day as well. Hopefully will come real good with the moon and a bit more swell coming.

Great fish mate... we used to target snapper off the beaches in southern NSW.. but only after a big blow and at certain beaches. good friend of mine got one at 8.9kgs one morning!! its amazing where they will turn up sometimes.
Congrats on a cracking beach session though mate!! Awesome!!

Thx guys and yes there is some swell coming, hopefully not too big tho :) Caught a bunch of tailor last night not picture worthy tho only avg size fish, which is weird for this time of year normally im seeing not this amount of smaller tailor and alot more bigger ones HMMMMMMMM where to go.

Nice tailor mate , well done.
How does a large one taste compared to smaller models?
Better, same or bit tougher?

Well done Scott.
Just go's to show that persistence pays off....BIG TIME!!!
That would have to be one of the best beach posts I have seen in ages!
I'm guessing you are down on the Goldie with the other lads batting this one/post around.
Congrats,
Mal
