Well, Davo must have got sick of doing other peoples' tax returns and made the call, so by about 2pm we were on the first drift at the usual spots.
The conditions could only be described as awesome!!
A couple of unders came over the side pretty quick, which boded well for the rest of the afternoon. Continued our drifts with some more unders coming up and eventually Davo boated a couple at the 40 size, which he promptly donated to me. Gwenda will be so pleased to have a feed of fresh snapper tonight!
I managed a good cuttlefish which excited Davo a bit for bait, as he was planning a solo run to Mud last night, but I don't think he went ahead with the plan. His head must have been spinning with numbers.
We were back at the Wello ramp about 6 after a fantastic afternoon, where we met up with Macca. Hardly any boats out, so everybody must have been at work, which meant we had the whole place to ourselves.
Davo was doing pretty good on the ZMan 5" white and hot orange grubs, so I must get myself some of those. Now that I know where to order them from, hopefully I'll have some shortly.
Couldn't aske for a better afternoon.

Hi John. Where's all the info on techniques and what gear you used. Was the boat drifting and how do you play the soft plastics? So many important questions to be answered. The cuttlefish make the very best of big snapper bait so time to throw away the artificial fishing and get some real fishing in. Big baits equal big fish. You could be a hero with that cuttlefish Johnny boy.;D

Those photos of Davo's show just how good it was! Also, it's not often you come home with a couple of fish that you didn't even catch.
Terry, there's no technique at all I'm afraid. Just work one rod and dead stick the other. The weed was a bit of a problem.
I think I'll be placing an order very soon Mossy.

I am envious, TOL.
I had my boat hooked up on my car in the driveway on Monday arvo ready to go out yesterday morning to fish through the 11.55 am high and the 6.07 low but come the morning after a bad nigh and I copped a dose of the 'flu. Bugger! The boat sat in the driveway and I slept all day. Bugger! It looks like it was brilliant out on the Bay.
Thanks for the report TOL and the great pix, Netmaker. The pix do cheer me up a bit. :)

What do you think of me using soft plastics? You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

I caught them as they were coming back in Perry. They were trying to use the cover of darkness to hide a human like plastic figure at the front of the boat. As i walked down to see them all I could here was Dave yelling, rather nervously to John, "deflate, deflate". Now I think I know why they say they like fishing with plastics so much.;D
