A bit of a delay posting
Got up to 1770 for a few days last month after another generous invitation from a mate
Conditions were a bit difficult and the fishing out wide was tough, but some reasonable action a bit closer in.
The usual suspects were caught on the shallower reef, and it was my oldest son William's first trip up , and first outing on the boat in a long long time due to studies.

He accounted for himself well, despite having to resort to bait!

I have been saving this photo of his first small mouth nannygai, as I had read reports of them being a bit ordinary on the plate.
Well my little Margaret Fulton just worked her magic on this one and eight of us (Yeah there were a couple of exchange students too - no, not Swedish girls either!!) absolutely loved it , battered and deep fried with deep fried cauliflower pieces , sweet potato fries and salad ( And icy cold Corona for the grown ups!)

Cheers
Brendan

PS Thaks Paul for filleting it while I pretended to attend to something minor on the boat!

Thanks for posting.

Ironing board cleaning tables - NICE!

Or were you actually in the yard ironing fish? :)

That fish has such strong colour it looks like a photoshop.

Good size fish - glad it made for a nice meal.

Thanks for the replies fellas
Yeah the Guys I go with are certainly an organized bunch!
Ironing boards , frame tubs, saltwater rinsing, Cryovac, and labelling!
Ironing boards are great! and easy to take on your trip.

Trevelly, I looked at the photo too and thought it looked shopped, thus the comment about the colour. No thats straight from the phone!
Cheers

BTW the ironing boards sometimes have a loose cutting board on top of the steel riffled surface. everything loose for ease of cleaning.
Boony , the guy doing the filleting on the board behind caught one at least that size , maybe bigger, two days before.

Niceone, awesome fish, and I love the ironing board.
I have taken one to fraser island last time i went. From now on every time i go i will take one, now that i found out how usefull they are. The fish sit well and don't slide around with the metal mesh tops gripping the fish, very light and quick to setup as well.
