After just reading the post about a winning Lure from the Lure Expo, I noticed it was black.
I guess this may have most applications in a fresh water environment were black is often the colour of the food: lizards, cicadas, guppys, mice, frogs etc etc.

Though back to the point, I have always noticed a lot of black bibbed lures, vibes and a lot of black plastics sold for salt water applications.

I have never used black and would never buy a dark or black vibe or soft plastic.
To me they are like the black jellybeans in the pack.

Anyone know what black bibbed lures but mostly black plastics and vibes are good for (in salt water)?

Black and other dark lures (vibes and plastics) work well in low light situations such as dusk and dawn. They give a much better silhouette for upward looking predators...

My favourite 12g vibe for snapper is a colour called 'mullet' which is mostly black. My favourite low light plastic colour is a dark green (watermelon)...also a great snapper lure.

Cheers

Si -The above video is a fresh water lure, I was asking about salt water.

Peter4 - So you have 1 black vibe, fair enough, what about black plastics?

I've had success targetting Flathead in murky water with 70mm Squidgy Fish in Poddy which is Black with silver sparkles . I tend to try a variety of different coloured soft plastics on any given day to find something that works ranging from almost transparent to darker colours including black.
