Its been a couple of years since I last posted on here.....been a bit slack I have. Anyway, I thought I would fill you in with some of my fishing this year from a location that has been nicknamed Spot X. Apologies in advance for the length of the post. I will try and keep you updated more regularly in the future.

The 15min walk in and out in 34 deg heat nearly killed me. I didn't have a 4x4 at that stage. It was early feb during the wet season. After about 15mins of not much, I caught a glimpse of movement in the corner of eye and ended up sight casting to a big bow wave about 5m away. Two twitches and I'm on. My first legal barra of the year at 68cm.

Another solo mission this time I went down about 10pm and by the time I redid my leader and walked in its probably 10:30. Two young fellas where there fishing with livies but hadn't had much luck. It was just after high tide but water was still. Started casting around and heard a few boofs and it wasn't long before my popper (which brand name has escaped me) was smashed. A good fight ended with a nice 76cm model.

Mid March. Just after about 8 inches of rain during the week. Threadybuster was the lure of choice and it didn't disappoint. 4 Barra for the day. 2 best ones below.

Bit of a gap for a couple of months so we are now in mid May.
Most of my fishing is done at night these days. Its easier to get past the boss if I put the kids to bed first before heading out.
Went down about 9:30pm. Water was still high after the 3.5m tide a couple of hours before. Couldn't fish where I usually do so I had to make do over some known structure. Crossing my fingers that I didn't fall victim to it. Threw a 4" mad mullet around that hasn't seen the light of day for over 12mths and within about 45min had 3 barra. Keep the first one at 69cm. The other two went back at 52 and 61. Tried for another hour or so. Packed up around 11:15.

Took a mate down for a mid week fish about 9:30pm for a couple hours before he had to go to work. Action was slow. A few boofs in the usual spots. Got 4 or 5 hits on the Threadybuster. 1 decent hook up on a ~50cm model until it spat the hook during a jump right at my feet. Ended up being outfished by mate on a 4inch prong. No Barras but a nice little legal Jack and a Flatty to boot.

Hadn't been down there for over a month so I thought I would head down about 9 just after high.
Bait was moving around with a few boofs early on but no immediate takers. After about 40mins and a change from the poppers, two rats were landed in quick succession. Bait stopped and the boofs stopped about 11:15pm. Time to go home. Lure was a Rapala subsurface.
Bit of fun for a monday night anyway

Will have to make this the short version as too many kids read this forum http://www.fishingtownsvilleforum.net/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Couple of weeks ago saw a Good moon, bait movement, familiar sounds and no midgies..........BAMMMM!!!!!! Barra on!!!!! 3 jumps right at my feet and this is easily going to be my best barra for the season @ 80-90. Dam thing just didn't want to come in. A bit of tug and war and after a few more jumps I finally had it slow'n down. It was about to be beached and with one more jump........@#$%!!!! @#$%!!!!! @#$%!!!!
Gone!!!!!!!!!!Snapped treble. I hope it swam off sulking with its new piercing!!!!!!!
About 5 casts later. Fish on again. No where near the size of the first but still put in a good fight............."you have got to be @#$%!!!!!!!!!" This time broken leader. Forgot to check my leader after the first fish.
Had to settle for a sub 50 model to end the night. Fun for an hour and a half of fishing nonetheless. Home by 2330

Sunday just gone. It was the first day out before sunset for a while. A couple of small Jacks were landed and a small rat barra lost during an aerial display. It was good to get out in the day time though. Walked the local creeks for a couple of hours each way and found some new hidy holes. Definitely worth another go on the top of the tide.
Lure of the day was the DOA gold prawn.

Went for a look yesterday during my lunch break. Flicked around for about an hour but ultimately nothing was landed. Water was clear as. Bait was plentiful however they were all too casual swimming around like they owned the place.

Couldn't help myself so I went down again during my lunch break. Z-man swimmers was the lure of choice and had some immediate bumps by a decent size Jack that I could clearly see in the water. Had 3 passes and the Jack attacked on each one. 4th, 5th and 6th pass and he didn't touch it. He was obviously over it. Changed lure to the thready buster and tried another spot for about 10min. Came back to the same spot with the TB and again got bumped on 2 consecutive passes and then nothing. Gave up and moved down to a small gutter. Cast down the middle and a few seconds later I was on!!!! A good little fight later and my first flatty in about 5years was smiling for the camera. Measured 55.
