Headed out to Jumpinpin this morning in a mates boat.On water by 6.15am and got to the first fishy looking spot at 7.00am along with 10 other boats:P .Drifted around throwing plastics my first fish came about 20 minutes later 44cm. I tell ya without an electric motor its friggen hard to work an area especially when the tide pushes you 100 meters every 5 seconds:-[. Anyhow back on topic we fished till 12.00pm landed over 15 Flathead between us.Thou only 2 legal size my 44cm and a 53cm specimen all others were between 30-39cm still good fun.Missed a lot of bites and lost plastics by bites.A nice little bream hit my plastic out of nowhere and surprised me as well as a 40cm tailor for my mate. All in all good to get out on the water on a boat for a change. First time ive fished the pin before lots of water i didn't know where to start:-?.
Question for you guys that may read this is it that common to catch so many undersize Flathead this time of year as my last 2 session previous I pulled in 2 legals for 5 undersize Flatties.(last 2 pics are from previous session.)

Thanks

Flathead are a funny fish, you can catch big ones all year round.

I find heavily fished areas always produce undersize fish.

Nice work mate, Love the photo of the flatty in the water! I normally fish around the pumicstone passage this time of year and over the past couple years and have caught more smaller flatty compared to the bigger versions. (not sure if it has something to with my skill level though)

Good work Bronson

Trace and I are catching many more undersized flattys at the moment than in the warmer months.

Was the same go for me down the pin over the weekend mate, we camped out on one of the islands Saturday night. I ended up with about 10 flathead (all on sp) over the weekend but only managed one legal at 53cm, most were in the 30-37cm range. Did notice a lot of pike in my usual spot though which was a pain.

Ok guys thanks for the feedback so far. Bermo82 yeah the 4th picture is my favourite also:). Yeah that's what i presumed more undersize flathead(males) come out to play in the colder months. Ill be adding some more lead to my plastics and fishing some different areas to try and work a few big girls out i think.

Thanks again for the feedback so far.
