OK so I recently specked up a new 552XEvolution with a 140 Suzuki on the back & after an extensive prop set up I settled for the 17" Genuine alloy prop, happy with hole shot but lacking a little top end.
Google google then more Google including our own threads hear I settled on a Solas 19" x 3blade Titan.
Never really got much extra performance "actually lost speed between 4-5000 rpm" but was happy to have a spare prop and the durability of stainless. Would of been pissed to buy local $800 to find this out !
Trip before last I clipped the ramp so I decided to get it repaired and scanned WTF ?
My new out of the box 19" was a 18 & 1/2" No biggy except one blade had 1/2" pitch more than the other 2 ?
I had the prop cut back 1" to get it closer to alloy spec as it is better offshore, I ran the alloy last trip to find lighter steering better feel and more stern lift.
When i picked up prop today I got the genuine 17" alloy scanned, Guess what it's 16 1/2"
Look forward to testing with a balanced prop with 3 blades the same size, can only imagine how many are like this not like my 19" stainless was the only one made ?
cheers
Dick

Garry give Colin at http://www.pprops.com.au/ a call mate, a guy I work with races Top Fuel V8 circuit boats & has used him for years.
Great guy full bar graph print outs before and after, can highly recommend service.
Repair and re-pitching was cheaper than another o/s prop, Next in the pipeline will be to give him a 4 blade to set up properly ;)
cheers
