Yeah, true legend in the fishing tackle world. I remember ordering a big spool of his own named fishing line along with some jigs back in the late 70's.

A fine gentleman and a great innovator with his fishing. Will be sadly missed and remembers by those who know him.

bugga...sad news indeed.
Drag washers & "history" will make him live long.

I think Jack reached legend status long before he realised he was.
An innovator and a specialist in everything he touched.

The world will need two more highly devoted and skilled people to fill his boots.

a true gentle man and a bloke that would show you anything you asked, with out question. The father of big black fishing in Cairns, thoughts and prayers are with his family on this sad day. His name will always be part of Australian fishing and fishermans stories.

we spend some time in sydney, then ayer's rock, then alice springs. our first day in cairns was a free day. the girls hit the botanical gardens and the downtown area for shopping. i went to jack erskine's funeral. it was only a short walk from the hotel, which was quite a surprise.

they had a videographer there, so i hope that the family will not object to these few photos. the services were very dignified and the memorials offered by family and friends were very moving. while the family was at a private memorial, friends gathered at a local pub to exchange stories. he was a great man and i am certain that he will be sorely missed.

the pub was called "the cock and bull" and you can see why mr. erskine came here so often. i was told that it was one of his favorite pubs.

i never did get a chance to speak to daniel, but i did get a chance to express my condolences to jack's wife. she seemed like a very nice lady. gents, you seem to have a wonderful fishing community. the next time i come to visit, i will try to make it down during your summer.
