water pump kit costs?

just replaced the water pumps on my optis after 250 hrs ,12 months work ,they looked like they could do another 250 hrs ,but not worth the risk ,now have a guess how much a complete water pump kit as shown in the pic is worth including the base etc.will be good to compare too other brands.:-*

Dave, I can get the Impellor kits for your engine (comes in a quicksilver package inside a honda packet) for $28.73 retail. Honda used the merc gearbox in their early 75-130hp

A Honda 225 full kit (16 parts) is $104 + GST but these usually go 1500 hrs for a bluewater boat so only impellors are changed at regular intervals

well that honestly surprises me gary the merc kit retails for the same ,a mate of mine just paid 300 bucks for a kit for his 250 zuke,and im sure that was trade lol

My 200 Suzuki cost me around $120 included install price just under 2 years ago (total service with all anodes etc $620)

How often do the water pump kits really need replacing? I know that it recommended once a year but I have had may outboards and never changed one !!!

i would do it anually dan ,just for cheap peace of mind,mine could of gone another year ,but for 70 bucks cheap insurance,plus you need to remove the gear box every year just to grease the shafts and studs etc.
i change gear oil every 50 hrs ,plugs at 150 hrs,fuel pump kits at 300 hrs,and moniter my fuel filters as required.grease all points every 50 hrs also ,keeps it all reliable.

If someone was charging me $300 just for the water pump kit on a 250 Zuke, I'd tell 'em they're dreamin!

Can get them for $43 from the USA, and they aren't much more than double that here from reputable dealers.

hard to actually compare kits and some have housing and some don't, to compare properly we should be quoting on the replacement of the complete water pump assembly
