Well its the time of the year when cockroaches and cane toads are at their most competitive. So the idea was hatched that we will hold an overnight Bream SOO. Only 2 competitors, one from each side. The night was nothing short of spectacular with no wind and pleasant temeratures. The fishing was hot as the first lines went in and promptly got smashed while rigging the second rod. Must remember to fish one rod only. Anyway a cracking pace was set early but things slowed just as quick (is that an oxy moron?) As the fishing slowed the refreshment consuming pace picked up and the fishing took a back seat to an I Phone concert and much rejoicing. In the wash up at the end of the game the QLDer came up trumps with a 7 - 6 win but only in numbers. Weight, length and generally much prettier fish were caught by the NSWelshman (me) with a PB QLD bream to boot. I have caught one 1cm bigger in NSW but this was my best up here. A great night but a sore head the yesterday81944 morning as the Bulimba Gold Tops took their toll.

I suppose the Cockroach contestent complained, that the Cane Toad was using too much bait, casting over my line, line class was too light, or his hooks were too sharp.
Or maybe it was just the beer you were drinking.

It was great down there Neil. I called him for a kilo fish but my QLD opposition called it for 875g. We were both wrong with the bugger coming in at 980g:-? I just rounded it up :)

Macca, I think you need a longer rod to keep up with the Queenslander!
If I remember right it was the Queenslanders long rod that knocked you off on the Flathead State of Origin also.
Cheers, J-Man.

Ahh J-Man the long (beach)QLD rod had no bearing on the outcome and if I remember correctly the Flathead challenge was won on a handline! Or maybe I was in some kind of haze. Either way NSW had a large part to play in the Bream evening
Boat = NSW
Cheap Beer = NSW
Entertainment (other than Neil Diamond) = NSW
Cabin Heating = QLD and Pea and Ham soup!
It was a fine night my smelly friend. Cant wait till the next one

Very hazy your mind is. Flathead challange was Qld: 4 NSW:3 Largest taken by Qld. on the long rod mate.
I too look forward to the next round.
