High all. Recently got a bream on a popper and has made me want to get into it. What pound leader? also a good bream lure for surface like a walk the dog or popper? If it helps im fishing the maroochy river, sunshine coast. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks FW

Hi FW
As funchy says lighter the better, but be aware that flurocarbon leader sinks,so better off with mono.Try both cup faced poppers and stick baits, one will work better than the other one day,the other the next.A couple of twitches and pause for a few seconds, some days you need to let it sit for a while and you will see the little buggers sitting under the lure, frustrating but fun.I use to do well on the ecogear shrimp pattern surface lures, cant remember what they were called now, sx40 maybe ,but someone here will let you know, other than that the bushys top dogs go alright and reasonably priced. You dont have to spend a fortune on bream topwater lures, and most will work.Have fun mate.
Cheers,Gav.

P.S....weightless soft plastic grubs, especially ecogear 2 1/2 grubs in the pink, with a little worm hook go great, hard to cast in the wind tho ;)
