a mate of mine Dicko has been wanting to get out for a fish for ages and work comitments keep interfering. the moons aligned last night and we could both get out so headed to a spot at Peel that has been producing for me of late. We weren't there for 10 minutes and my line puts on a bit of a run, quick fight and up pops a 42cm squire, not a bad start i thought. over the next hour and a half we caught 6 more that were all within 5mm of each other a couple of undersized ones and 2 grassies around 37cm mark. Had a fasle alarm just as we were about to leave with a big run on the baitrunner, set the hooks and had a good fight with what i thought was going to be a decent sanp, unfortunately this bloke popped up, just in time for Mother(in law)'s day on sunday i guess :).
Bait did the trick. i couldn't get over the water, it was glass the whole night, if my numbers had have come up Tuesday night i would still be out there...ar well...

Nice work. I heard that if you bleed and ice the morwong they taste quite nice. I myself can never seem to do better than barely legal tuskfish at peel. Very nice catch indeed

Good going on thur as i found heaps of fish but not feeding much around harries and in the rouse but found new ground and the water was the best eh. I did hook a 27cm whiting on a 5 inch plastic.

I caught 2 Slateys at Peel, gave the fillets to my mum (my wife's mother-in-law) but kept a couple of pieces to try. Surprisingly enough it was good. I won't be giving it away again. Cheers8-)

Phantomphisher, i had never tried one, so i thought i would give it a go (i was going crabbing friday night anyway so if it was horrible i could turn it into some crabs :) ). I did bleed it and it was ok, not my first choice but not too bad.

Good point Netmaker, i might have given her the frame if it were a snap . i am still chasing one of the big hooers you have been getting at Peel.

MEG-A-BITE, if this weather keeps up there will be no dramas doing an overnighter, the water was that still you could have shaved in the reflection of the water that night!

Ddobson, i could hear all the boats heading out the rouse from Peel, the sound travels a mile on those calm nights. i could hear fish smashing up the surface all around too, but getting onto enough on the bait so didn't bother throwing any poppers.

Castlemaine, i didn't think it was too bad either, he put up a great fight.

Here are another couple i got on the weekend from the same spot.

cheers Millsy
