Have been trying to get back up to Poona for nearly a year now, the weather looked great so took Thursday and Friday off and headed up Tuesday night. Got some top local advice from Poonabayking (thanks again mate) and headed out early Wednesday morning. Dragged lures between Inskip and Fraser for a couple of hours got a few hits but couldn't set the hooks. Went back to a spot PBK gave me and flicked some plastics and let the kids soak some baits, the kids picked up some nice grassies, i lost 2 Z man and a threaduster 90 to a couple of unstoppables. After not landing anything and the wife getting restless and wanting to go home i thought bait it is so i threw a fresh prawn on and out it went, it was only in the water for 5 minutes when i got a solid (but not great) run, another nice grassie i thought when all of a sudden the stella started screaming WTF is going on here i thought. i was a bit nervous at this stage as this thing would not give up. Anyway 20 minutes later and a good net shot from the wife, this bloke comes up, went 113cms and must be the unluckiest tune in the ocean, i can only assume that whatever hit my prawn got smashed by this bloke. what a fight, it was more than worth the lost hardware! Was pretty suprised how long it took to swim himm him, glad i wasn't the only one shagged from the fight! Couple of pics of the grassies too.
the down side, got home that afternoon and one of my trailer bearing had completely collapsed (my own fault should have packed them more often) so one day fishing the next 2 searching for a new axle, sourced one and will have to go back up ther next weekend to fit it, might spend the weekend up there again :):)

That's a great fish, would have got the blood pumping. Sorry to hear about the bearing, although it seems like a good excuse to spend a bit more time up there. Beautiful part of the world.

Fafnir , I thought the same thing mate, gotta look on the bright side right :) the thing that hurt the most is that e weather was perfect and I couldn't get the boat in. It was like walking threw a brewery with your lips stitched shut!

Todddo, the boss was stressing about netting it as my advice on how to net it was more frantic swearing than constructive :)

Cheers men
