What a way to make a living.....
I heard they ran out of money to dredge the bar, not sure if it's true...

Thanks for keeping us all aware Randell, even though you are now living so far away. Just makes me so cautious to go out through that bar at night now. I will be very interested to see if any others have had close calls over the last few days whilst the swell has been up. Any other reports from the last few days? I was watching on a surf camera live and saw a jet ski out at Point Cartwright 'just miss' a surfer by a millimeter whilst traveling at a billion MPH. There were 2 of them out there when the swell was up amongst a stack of board riders and they were just going psycho! I reckon there needs to be 'way more' restrictions on these craft before something really serious happens. Sorry if you are a Jet Ski owner but I have seen way to many concerning things happen at the hands of these craft.

Done it twice in the dark the last few weeks. Once in a mate's boat and once in my boat, both heading out. Not too bad if you have tracks on you GPS from old crossings. You've got to go a good 100m further into the bay than the red temperory marker if you ask me. It is white water about 50m to the west of it at times.
