BCF have a couple of combos on special starting at around the $140.00 mark. They would all do the job. A 2500 sized reel will be adequate for any flatty and is light enough to keep flicking all day

BCF have sonic Pro and sienna 2500 reel for $69.00, which is a bargain if you ask me. Go a 3-5kg sonic pro if you want to fish a touch heavier but Trace and I have landed most of our flatties flatties (up to 74cm) on soft plastics on a 2-4 sonic pro with 1500 reels and 6lb line no problems, admitedly with a slightly getter reel, but the Sienna is OK I recon

For about $140 you could get a Shimano Sahara combo. I've owned both a Sahara and a Sienna, and in my opinion, the Sahara is miles above. That being said, the Sienna's are great reels for the money, and will last a fair while even after being dropped in the drink more than a couple of times!

I started with this setup & landed alot of flatties on it & it handled them well.. I just fished 4lb fireline with a 6lb-12lb leader..

Horse, C & C, Headbanger and Saint are all spot on cheapy outfits that perform well and last while copping a beating definitely great advice
I used the sienna outfit (now 3yrs old dragged in the sand, dunked a few times and near no gold chrome left on it) today and landed a couple of 550mm barras with a bit of fun so flatties are no prob
cheers

Had a 2500 Sahara combo for a few years and it worked perfectly, Sienna is also good but I think the Sahara is better

Macca - The Siennas are great value thats for sure. The Starlo Classix range of SP rods are also great value. i have 2 of them - 1 x 1-3kg & 1 x 2-4kg both with 1000 siennas and they have copped floggings over the last year or 2 n keep on producing just fine.
