Whats some of the good wind-on leaders to use for jigging and bottom bashing. I have heard of some dodgy ones getting around so want to stay well clear of those. I would also like to get fluorocarbon wind-on rather than mono but they seem to be a bit hard to find.

Cheers

I have used the Jack Erskines ones for a while and they seem ok except that they go milky after a while. Just got a Optia 100lb fluorocarbon to try just expensive

yeah thansk mate. I do have some of the erskines with 10x. Know what you about them going milky. That 10x stuff is really abrasion resistant.

they are expensive - i have seen how they make them, dont look too hard, i just don't have the time really.

Send me a pm if you like. I can knock you up some 80-170lb wind ons for a good price if you like. they havent let me or many others down yet. they are also pretty easy to make yourself if you learn how. The key is to over build them!

I've been using the Paulus pull on's like Jack has , and they have not let me down once. The early ones were a bit "how ya goin"' but his latest, new and improved ones are really good. I like his 40 series, and recommend them.

used to use these leaders when barra fishing at mondy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IofvuXnmRNU
or if you can find them "lethal leaders" are a great product. i have no association with the product other than recomending them after having them never fail with 5 years of use.

yeah i use the pr knot as my main connection for most line sizes. its a great knot. I will be using it for my casting. However, I'm just looking for something quicker and easier in the boat and the beauty of the wind-ons is that they retain close to 100% breaking strain of main line so they reckon.

this product looks like the lethal leaders i suggested. http://www.basspro.com/Braid-Ezz-Leader/product/10215494/229831?hvarAID=shopping_shopzilla
i bought the 50lb leaders which had a 135lb breaking strain. Maybe ask in the freshwater section i'm sure a few of the mondy boys would have seen the lethal leaders and might be able to help. i was paying $4.50 per leader (packs of 3 for $13.50) and never needed to replace it after catching big barra in timber. worth every cent.
