I been looking up some knots for live bait and I found the "sliding snell knot".

It's most probably very common its just I have always used on hook or a gang.

After setting up my rig it looks a very healthy knot indeed.

When it came to connecting the swivel I used a "Palomarr" knot, then cut it off and opted for a "Uni".

Just got me thinking I usually do this because the "Palomar" is meant to be the strongest knot for terminal tackle, however It's a dam ugly "lumpy" looking knot, and I always cut it off and opt for a better looking "Uni".

Anyone else relate to this?
Just wondering as I find the "Palomar" less agile than other knots.

Maybe it has better applications in 50lb and up.

Try this knot Dan:
Twice through the eye then tag twice around the loop in the eye and the mainline then nip it tight.
Paulus tested out to around the 80% and is super easy to tie.

Sliding snells have thier place, but i find the hookset can be compromised if the snell moves on strike, would probably work better with a circle top hook maybe??

I will have to look that one up.

I was more talking about the Palomar Knot being lumpy and rigid.

Is the knot your talking about a replacement for the double sliding snell or the Palomar?

It is a terminal knot to replace the palomar lots neater and smaller then the palomar.

Your right you know, the sliding snell would slip on a bite.

Thanks
