Just bought a sevylor Colorado and am thinking of ways to kit it out.
First up the sounder..................I was looking at portables, mainly to avoid the need for a hefty battery in there so has anyone got any tips on transducer mounting on inflatables or on the portables?
I looked at the humminbird buddy and thought, as it's a two seater that will mainly only carry me, I could mount a board to clamp the buddy onto, although I'm not too keen on the idea. Also (I'm dead thick where electrics are concerned) :-[ if I don't go the portable route, am I correct in thinking two 6V lantern batteries can be used to power the non-portable ones?
I'd be grateful for any advice or tips on your setups.

Thanks choppa. I'll have to figure out battery problems first. Don't want a heavy battery in the yak.
Long time no hear/see. I've been off the forum for a while. Have you still got the batmobile? ;D Call in any time mate..............I'm in most of the time tending to fishroom.

Some of the humminbird portable sounders simply use AA batteries, which sit in a bay under the sounder head. Thus reducing the need to have big external batteries. I had one of these in the old Rosco canoe. The sounder came with a transducer which attached via a suction-cup, which worked great.

Thanks Pete. I looked at those but I'm not too sure that they'd shoot through an inflatable floor?
