Hi All,

Just chasing some advise on getting after some Macks out in the bay.
Will be looking at setting out from either Redcliffe or the Brissy River. The river just in case the weather goes pear shaped>:( and need some shelter and still able to wet a line while doing so.

It will be the first time we have chased them so any advice on appropriate gear, tackle and technique.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew

Have a look at the map below, will give you some idea as to where to go.
Bird activity is one of the best factors in finding spotties, but often they'll be tuna.
Trolling the deeper channel from harries up to the fours can bring results.
Doggies although a bit late in the season around the beacons
others anchor up around sharks spit and float pillies out.
Rous and rainbow again bird activity, but there again they'll be macks tuna or could be lucky and they'll be doggies.
Otherwise slowing trolling these two channels may bring results.
Main weapon is a tss4 on a 7.6ft 6-8kg live fibre 15kg mono.
Chrome slugs in the 2inch range with maybe a little colors on them is all i use, plus some home made one.
Trolling i usually use a 6 and 4 inch barra spoon or a skirted pilly
