Anyone know anything about these reels? Looking at a 810 "Drum" for a mate.

Yep Reggy, got a couple of these, they are both 'Drum' 940s. They are japanese-made, stainless spools, gears, posts, levers etc. They are a take on the Penn Senator in the 4/0 size.
I got them both off Ebay, one from the US and one from here. I love them both! I had a smaller reel, may have been an 830, same deal, stainless gears etc etc, great quality.
Personally I rate them as great old-style overheards, way better than a lot of similar reels from the same era, including IMO the Penn Senators.
Alan Tani has a bit on the kencor 810 on his site.

Hi Nigel
I can remember you posting pics of a Kencor. Thanks for your reply mate. The reel in question looks to me to be about the size of a Penn Jigmaster or Squidder. It`s hard to tell from a pic on it`s own. I like the fact that it`s made in Japan and that it has a lot of stainless parts.
Would you know the gear ratio or approx drag figures.?
regards
Reggy
