View Full Version : Had a crack at Brunswick wall today.

Went to Brunswick wall today, water was brown tide was low.
Might have been something around.

Was wet windy and raining, just the way I like it (minus the wind), was quite warm, also seen a few other punters braving the elements here and there for a Jewie I suspect, or bream.

Caught a nice bream 40cm, was a big one, caught on a huge chunk of smelly old servo mullet.

Also snapped my IMX 8kg dropshot, fell over on the barnacles more times than I care to remember and also discovered my new Rovex 8kg rod is shit for casting.

Other than that got out in the elements and will sleep well tonight.

I let the bream go, it already had a hook in its mouth, you can see on the pic, the hook was a small silver stinger hook and had not really rusted down at all, the line from the hook as you can see in the pic had moss growing on it, so it had been there for a while.

Nice bream but snapping the rod was a big price to pay - bummer

Good on you for getting out in this weather

You may have read it wrong, it was an IMX dropshot (Berkely) not a Gloomis IMX.
I got it on special for $60.00 :P , so wasn't too bad.

I got my first big jew off the south wall at brunswick in 1985, when you get dirty water coming out like now try a whole side of mullet with 3- 7/0 s ganged on it or a big bright plastic with a very sturdy hook...

Nice catch and so brave being there on this condition!

Just wonder how's Simpson creek, isn't it still brownish?

Planning to camp at Terrace reserve next weekend... Not sure about this stage...:-?

Don't know Simpsons creek.
The river mouth and Brunswick river was churning out flood water, brown full of debris and sticks, the beach and ocean around was ok just stained water with a few sticks here and there.

Weather was quite warm and the rain wasn't heavy, the wind was blowing onshore though and that made it difficult at times, but wasn't blowing herd just gusty.

BTW caught the Bream in the relative shallows, about 4 ft of water, no doubt was scavenging the edges for an easy feed.

I often catch a good bream there on a chunk of mullet, have not really got my gear together yet for suitable livie fishing and casting.

cheers
