Hi all first fishing report. Not a great one but fished the western side of peel today. Was on the water and at first spot by 6am. Amazingly there was only one other boat out there, a couple of guys in a 4-5m tinne? Being Australia day I thought it woul be packed. Maybe to many people took too much notice of the weather report.

Anyway took a drift fishing 5" zman paddlerz and on second drift one of the rods buckles over with the tip in the water and 4000 stradic screaming. As soon as I grabbed the rod gonzo, leadrer snaps. Damn. Try again. Finished drift for nothing.

Set drift again and this time over exact same spot the samurai 302 with 2500 twin power almost buckles into the water, this time I get the rod, tighten drag slightly, headsakes galore and same result. So far not a good day.

Did about six more drifts and the best I could raise was this small squire.

Couldn't believe the glassed out conditions of the bay? Weather report was 10-15. They have no idea. Water was a bit murky but better than being at work.

Cheers

Good one Billy, lucky you came back with all your rods in one piece. Could you tell me did the fishing drop off around a certain time if possible?

you got more action than me mate. i drifted the arties from 7.30 till 11 for 1 squire like yours and 1 solid hit that didn't hook up. could have done with a little breeze it was that still. bit muggy after the rain. otherwise a1 conditions. i was suprised at the lack of boats on the water but a few were heading out when i got back. was using the same zmans too.
cheers

Hey Billy C,

I totally agree with your statement about the weather reports of late, they are a bit off. seabreeze is like russian roulette and been pretty poor with the forecasts.

At least the Z mans are consistantly good at catching fish.

cheers

Not really mate like I said it was just a couple of good hits and otherwise pretty slow. Cheers
