Hey guys, am going to give Coochin Creek a fish tomorrow in my 4m tinny. Not after any secret spots or anything but are there some general spots I can get a feed at? Also will be trying to get some livies to fish with and put the pots out. Anything I need to be aware of? Thanks heaps for any replies, really appreciate it.

Gidday mate,

Where are you dropping in at? I dropped in at Donnybrook a couple of months back, and the weed in the water all around there was real bad. A mate of mine said that he went up there with his fishing club a couple of weeks back and the weed was still shithouse. He said their pots were getting covered in weed to the point where they were getting dragged.

I have fished Coochin, but nothing special there. I have had most of my luck at Glass Mountain Creek. Always using yabbies. There are plenty of banks to pump them on.

Good luck tomorrow mate. Hope you get a couple of lizards.

Thanks for the reply mate. We launched at Coochin, didn't do too good, caught an undersized flatty and 5 undersized muddies. So unfortunately no good.

How long did you spend there? I've crabbed the passage out in front of Coochin and done very well before, but it is tide and weather dependent. A bit of fresh helps. I'm talking up to 7 crabs in a rectangular pot after 45 minutes with up to 3 keepers per pot. Good thing I wasn't the decky to sort them. PM me if you want to go again and I'll give you a starter.

Plenty of whiting around there too.

There used to be some prop stopper rocks on the way in years ago but i don't know now.
A lot of creeks changed dramatically with the floods and big tides so caution should be used even if you think you know it.

Hey mate was there for four hours. Put the pots in one of the creeks didn't put them out the front like you did, might have to give that a go. 3 keepers in 45 min is awesome. Tried for whiting on the sand banks at the front but had no luck there either. Tide was outgoing. I am keen to go afternoons or most weekends. I need all the help I can get haha :-).
