Has anyone heard of or had first hand experience with the new mag seal technology used in the Daiwa Certates? I am interested in buying a new Certate and I am wondering if their mag seal is a good thing as I have been informed on another site of some problems with it,so at the moment unsure of forking out big bucks for a new Certate.

I have had a Saltigas 5000 for about 6 months, the one with the mag seal. Hasn't been used a lot, but no dramas with mag seal so far. Mate has Certate, he fishes it a lot for about a year, and no troubles there either.
I am convinced that it is solid, so I bought another Saltiga, and a new Caldia.

Just another thing has anybody had to have their reels serviced with Daiwa that has mag seal and is it more expensive for the service?

I havent but yes it has to be taken to a authorized dealer, they have the magic oil ,thats one of the reasons i went the hyper custom R to service it myself,if you get one just dont fish above what the reel should be used for theres other problems under high drag preasure with the floating spool rubbing, it didnt happen on the earlyer models before the mag seal, just do some googleing and read a few chats from the USA.
