Give them a good wash, then dry, after that apply a polish or wax, kitten no1 or similar, comes up great AND protects the plastic, try it you will be surprised as I was.

While I'm at it, ARCO for the canopy.

Tip from marine upholsterer.

Vuplex is good, gave it a go for the first time recently and was very impressed. The other products mentioned may work also, but after trying Vuplex I will be surprised if I ever bother trying anything else.

Vitamin Sea, have heard that the pink hand cleaner (septone???) is good for cleaning upholstery also, haven't yet tried it, but it came from an upholsterer also.

Plexus is the only product i would touch my clears with.

Thanks for the responses.

Also, a mate of mine has a boat and there is a sticker on the windscreen that says 'do not use soapy water.' He reckons it can cause the windscreen to crack over time. I wonder if this is just for this style of windscreen, or other people have been given the same advice.

Cheers.

Plexus was supposed to be designed for cleaning windscreens on jet fighter planes(so i was told). Have been using it for years on motercycles and then on boat clears and screen(great stuff) It's in a spray can and i got mine from our local Autobarn store.

I'm a Plexus fan my boat had a slightly crazed windscreen & I thought there goes the better part of another $1000 that I didn't really want to over capitalize into an old boat so I gave Plexus a try....

Magic stuff, made the screen almost brand new but you do have to use it regularly. I do mine 3 or 4 times a year + clears and I'm still on the first can.
Bias boating at about $20 a few years ago.

Do the same as the professional window washers do, add about 6-8 drops of dish washing detergent to about ten litres of water and you will not only get a great finish, there will be no smearing left!

You wouldn't think such a small quantity of detergent would work but I use it for all my boat and house windows and clears. Don't get tempted to use more as you will then start to get smearing. Less is best!

Mr Sheen as the cheap option.. or Vuplex or Plexus as the more expensive option. (vuplex from bunnings is around $14 a can and does wonders for all types of plastic)
