Has and would anyone like to share a waypoint X marks the spot for me for the inner Gneerings off Maroochy. Going up their over Xmas and would really appreciate a heads up on a spot that has caught fish previously. At least it would be a place to start until I get used to my sounder etc.

If you have a GPS chart plotter all the Gneerings high spots stand out like dogs balls. If not, do like I did to start out, get yourself a copy of the Sunmap chart for the Sunshine Coast or a British Admiralty chart and work out your own lats and longs off the chart. This has served me well over the years and isn't rocket surgery!

Cheers Smity, I have a Matrix 97 which has GPS chart plotter but have not used it on the water yet so a bit of trial & error I guess.
I thought the inner gneerings was relatively "flat" but are you saying it does have pronounced peaks and holes?

There's probably half a football field there at say 6-9m out of 22m or something like that and a couple of football fields of reef in total. It is pretty rugged so be prepared to lose gear. The rest of the Gneering is the same. Up to 13m out of 28m and stuff like that over many football fields of country.
