Removing stickers from hull

Changed states, got to change rego sticker. Current one is white vinyl numbers/letters with silver adhesive background. The vinyl comes off easy but the silver adhesive sticker is like a leper holding on to his last finger, just won't let go!:-X Tried sweating, hair drier, nail polish (sounds like a beauty shop) nothing works. Scrapping just takes paint of aluminium hull. Any ideas:P

Try Eucalyptus oil,it works on stickers takeing of the residue that they leave behind!

i have used rp7/wd40 to take stickers off cars before, soaked it, then placed some cling wrap over top and left for an hour or so.

might pay to do a test pach first.

Hi,
I have remove company logo stickers from my work utes before and was always told to use a heat gun, removed the stickers gum and all. Hair dryer might not produce enough heat. Good Luck Doug.

Rubber wheel on a low speed setting on cordless drill.. All auto stores will have them in the detailing section (repco/autobahn etc). They are used to remove pinstriping without damaging paint. (Most places will call them caramel wheels)

hair drier to remove the bulk and eucalyptus oil to remove any adhesive left over..simple, easy and cheap.

i guess it would be the friction that causes heat to melt or soften the glue allowing the sticker to be removed easily.

It works like a high speed rubber, first lifts off cover then glue residue. Leaves no marks or scratches paint. Bout $8 each.

It looks like many different ways with the same result. I spray the area with water then cover with cling wrap allow to sit in the sun for a while (the water gets in under the sticker...somehow) then peel the clingwrap and sticker off.

I have to agree with the caramel wheel..as long as the paint is good and sound.

I had 6 inch wide stripes on the canopy of my ute when I baught it, and they had been baked on in north western QLD.

I tried all sorts of things, a variety of solvents, heat guns and so forth..some things would get the vinyl off but nothing would touch the residue..untill the caremel wheel.

they work just like a rubber, it rubs the sticker and the adhesive residue off, the whole point is they do not produce much heat..if they are getting hot you are running them too fast.

I was working on gell coat, but as long as the paint or surface you are working on is firm, sound and hard.......they are simply magic..when they work well nothing will touch em.

they call em a caremel wheel, because they smell like caremel.
