Saw where that tackle shop at Coorparoo had some gear on sale, so I went and had a look.
Picked up a Stradic 6000 FI. Spare spool and all. $185.00. Nice and shiny too.
Now, what am i going to use it for? Maybe throwing slugs at spotties and schoolies?
Aigutso will probably tell me he's got about half a dozen at last count.

LOL TOL..and now you are on a mission to find a rod to put it on ?
How many reels is that now? I reckon there must be something in the air down that way..turns people into tackle junkies.
I, on the other hand, am about to pack most of my fishing gear away and into storage for a while.

There's about 5 or 6 rods that might do the job, ranging from 6-8kg to 6-10kg, all a mix of graphite to fibreglass. The Ugly Stik looked ok, but it's a bit heavy, so I'll fiddle around until I come up with a combo that feels right. Found a Live Fibre there in the shed, but it's an overhead unfortunately. The Berkely Dropshot 7-9kg is looking pretty good at this stage. I can go lighter, but the reel might be a bit heavy for the lighter rods. There are some 4-8kg rods there, so I'll fiddle around with them as well.
That might be a job for after lunch. Wander into the shed, drink in hand, and experiment.
Thought i'd load it up with 20lb braid. There's some 30lb there as well, but that might be a bit of over kill, although the extra spool does give me some leeway.
It's not the latest model reel, only being a FI, but I reckon it'll handle most situations, and being the cheapskate that I am, the price looked OK. Those new CI4 jobs only go up to the 4000 size apparently. The guy over the road goes outside a fair bit and he's thinking of upgrading his Stradics from 4000 to 6000.
Can't wait to show him what I got.

You trendite you.
Next thing is you'll be wearing pink crocs and blue shirts with Shimano en-blazed across the front and back of them.
Where's a good place to buy latte's down your way??
I don't want to know. It's just so all the other trendites would know.
And could you have done something a bit more worthwhile with your time instead of tripping around the country side looking for more tackle?? You know....like digging the tomato patch so you can plant some veges??
Your just a lucky bloke having an understanding wife like Gwenda. Most other, less forgiving, ladies would have donged you on the head years ago.
Gidday Gwenda!! Give John a boot in the backside for me will ya :)

By chance I also went past the same wharehouse yesterday afternoon, saw that same reel on sale and bought one as well. Same dilemma as you, what to do with it now,

Maybe one each just isn't enough Mike.
What are you going to put on yours? Or is it just going to be put away for future use?
Maybe Sid at Victoria Point might have a rod or two that just might fit the bill?

Thats fantastic news TOL and a good reel at that price. I wouldn't mind one but I'm about to buy another boat instead.
For you its reels, for me its boats. All the same sort of insanity in the end. The work is in getting the Mrs around then enjoying the possibilities......................

its a serious business Greg,
TOL, i think it will go on an old 7'6" ugly stick for spotties so 20lb braid should be the go, i only went there to get a cheap gaff?.
Apparently TOL you will only fit 266m of 30lb braid on your spare spool.

Same dilemma as you, what to do with it now,You mean, you guys are driving???:o I save time by purchasing online and with all those savings, I can buy heaps more!!! Well that's my excuse anyway... ;)
I was tossing between a biomaster (stradic jp version) and another okuma efs for my mack spinning, and ended up picking a pair of okumas (efs 60 and trio 55s) for the price of one reel!
I know there are a lot of okuma bashers around because, well, they're no Penn spinfisher but that little Okuma trio 55s is one sweet little reel that should be in every addict's tackle box!;D
