hi all. up at 2.30 this morn for another snapper sesh. after my dismal attempt:-[ at bass fishing somerset on saturday with bingo and tanglefoot i couldn't wait to get out for a salt fix. arrived at mud about 4am, anchored up and put out 2 lines - 1 cuttlefish and the other herring. 10 minutes and first fish in the low 30's. 15 minutes later a better run produced a 58cm fish;D. another 10 minutes later and a better run again. this one went 66cm;D;D. sat around for another couple of hours using up the last of the cuttles on little buggers and then moved to the western side and spent a half hour using one of dayoo's 1/4oz fluoro pink jigheads with a zman plastic mossy gave me last time we met. about 8am i got a good hit and managed to add a 69cm;D;D;D fish to the box. could only manage grinners and small stuff after that and left before the wind got up. really happy to back up saturdays poor freshwater result with a good one from the salt. and, cant help it... seems mossys charters are still catching for crew by proxy when he aint there:o.
cheers for the zmans mossy;)73208

Nice work davo. The most I could manage on Sun morning sp session was undersize snaps and sweeties. Should have taken some bait. cheers

thanks fellas.
oodies - when we get out mate you are pretty much guaranteed a catch - from history it'll be at my expense and i'll be empty handed!!!
dd - mate, having only had my little tinny 3 years now i have to say i am stoked with this years results. done way better size-wise than going offshore in me mates boat;D!!
millsy - 20-25 ft is where i usually find my fish at mud. yesterday was an exception. i normally wait for hours before seeing a good fish and dont often get annoyed by little ones. in fact if i am having problems with little fish i normally move. i figure that the bait needs to be down long enough for a larger fish to come along and take and that is a bit difficult if you are releasing small fish every few minutes.
mossy - i still dont know where mossy's reef is:-X
dragman - difference between a weekend and a week day. less than 10 boats at mud yesterday and spread out all over the place. dont forget the best fish was on plastic tho;)

cheers

you would be very welcome bretto tho i feel i must warn you i do very long trips and the only time you get to use the "bum method":P is using bait on the anchor. the rest of the time its standing and flicking plastics. i will certainly be glad to learn more on the fresh from you and bingo. have already ordered some bass lures so will be keen to try them out. did you sort out your lecky? or is the new one with an i pilot on order?
cheers

Thanks Davo. Yes I know weekdays are the best. When I fished mud years ago that is when I would go.
Tight lines.
When I plan to head out there i'll send you a PM. Might hook up and have a feed and a chat when the chew is quiet!
Cheers

Davo,

Went to take the lecky off the boat mate and the bloody thing works. Heading down the gold coast on the weekend will give it one more chance. Probably flatten the battery doing the bum method.
Mate I can stand all day flicking placcies just more fish at the moment on the troll as my tally probably proved. Love outsmating fish with plastic, gives you great satisfaction.
Mate probably try and do a trip chasing the big perch around Christmas. Just a weekend trip

Cheers Bretto

hey bretto, gotta confess i tried the bum method monday morn;). didn't pay off but i will be trying it some more. you can guarantee i'll flatten both batteries next time at somerset tho. good news on the lecky:-?. bit of a predicament tho. is it worth retrofitting an old lecky for $400 or just spend the $1300 for the new one with the i pilot installed and optional foot pedal? interested in any proposed trip mate and can do any days bar tuesdays and wednesdays.
cheers
davo
