Well had a shitter of a day,

Broke my Egrell S10 Bear after getting snagged (really didn't think a rod would snap with the little pressure that was on it), My partner got a 9 pound snapper and she beat my PB by a centimetre!!!! (she's quite happy rubbing it in..) and then when we got home the boat tractor shit itself, fun times, now i have to wait for the tide to come in to get my boat out.

Any way, i was think of getting a New Egrell S10 to go with my Stella 3000/4000/5000, but i was wondering if anyone had got and used a Samurai rod for mainly snapper and the odd king fish.

Any other higher end rods out there that people are happy with, i normally use the 3000 with 12 lb braid.

Toddy- you are a man of good taste...the GFX is one of the best rods I have put in my hand IMO better than the more expensive samurai and the daiwa equivilents!

I had an S10H and I reckon the GFX is a better rod.

Just get a 100$ special, thrash it till you smash it, that's my theory from now on, all these overpriced rods really take the fun out of fishing in my opinion.

Cheers

that's why you have to buy under the rated size and hang on more! a big barra or even a snapper on a bream rod is definitely not taking the fun away i still don't want to break one though...hence the expensive rod

hey mate. some good advice here. Gary builds some nice rods. g force are a graphite/glass composite and the identity of the usa blank manufacturer is not disclosed for some reason. beautiful rods and come in camo or cork grips. You could also look at a north fork composites blank built by gary howard as well. Any of these rods will give you a woody and IMO are better than samarai and egrell although i know others will disagree. check out the website. http://www.jarviswalker.com.au/catalogue/fishing/rods/baitcast-rods/gary-howard-g-force-extreme-rods.html Being a composite they may offer more durability as well.

Most of leading tackle stores will supply these on order. Just tell em exactly what you want.

My suggestion would be a Phenix Ultra MBX. Just need to google them to see the reputation they've built in the US. I can whip you up a custom if you like?
