Ditch the yammalube and buy a 20 litre drum of Caltex super outboard 3 for about $120.........

yammalube isn't worth the extra money

Agree that Caltex is good stuff. Where are you getting your drums at that price?

I know it cost more but Sierra (made in USA) make a semisynthetic that is excellent, there is less smoke. The Yamaha and caltex come from plant at Pinkenbah. Cheers Pete

Jeez, you blokes north of the border have got it good. I paid forty something bucks for a 4 litre drum a couple of weeks ago at Terrace Boating. By the way, the drum said, 'Made in Singapore'. Does Yamaha have a new supplier for yamalube 2 stroke? I had read on this site that it was Caltex.

Caltex distributor at Hamilton.

Thanks TB. The Caltex/Tropic at Garbutt Townsville has it - don't know price yet but it will be cheaper than the small containers!

Switched from Yamalube (2003 CV premix Yamaha 115) to Caltex a few years ago also with no problems.
$30 for 4l at our local Caltex distributor and when on special in winter 20l for $110.

I got a 4litre of valvoline for $26 put it in 10 litre tank of my 175hp Saltwater series2 and after approx 300 litres of fuel that 4 litres was gone so I bought 4 L of Yamalube did the same and noticed there was no smoke at startup and minimal smell only when reversing. I have put 600 L of fuel thru to that 4 L of yamalube. I figure it has something to do with grades of oil. Makes economic sense to use yamalube.

Vvalvoline is good for killing weeds and thats about it. Caltex products are always of a very high standard. If I could afford it I would use Amsoil but its pretty pricey.
