how much water should a 2000 mod 9.9 Johnson pump from tell tale and out the back .mine has very Little from both have cleared tell tale and new impeller feels cold at the head

they are very tempermental water pumps to change, the housings warp easily which allows air to be sucked into the impellor cavity.

i did the impeller as i have done before on many motors every thing seem to fit flat and snug

did u install the key into the shaft that locks the impeller to the shaft?

Trace the tell tale tube back to the powerhead and unscrew the hose tail it fits onto, chances are there is some grit or something back there giving the poor piddling performance. I have done this thing three times on my Evinrude, each time that being a solution.

Hello 39,

I had the impellor changed in my '91 15hp Johnson and there was a problem with the rubber grommet under the powerhead that the long water pipe from the gearcase fitted into.
Was OK till it warmed up then it folded over and blocked the water flow.
Just ran long enough to get few miles from the ramp then the squirt turned to steam ouch!.
No lasting harm, but it spoilt my fishing trip.
The mechanic fixed it for free and said that the grommet should be changed along with the impellor.
