I took a mate out who has become my new decky it seems as he likes fishing as much as i do. Still to get him up to speed with the plastics so shot out to peel to have a few drifts around the drop offs.. Nothing there at all bar a few little touches not worth chasing so moved around and on the turn of high hooked a 60cm jew so back we went for another drift and what do you know another next drift a 70cm. My mate was spewing as no touches. Next drift he loaded up and on his fibreglass rod it looked good but only under sized squire. All in all no fish to take home but a good day out on the water. He is stating to get hooked on plastics so he is off sunday to buy a few graphite rods so he can flick better. We have caught some good fish of late together being that huge long tail tuna and some good snapper so he might as well get good on the plastics. I still cant upload so i see if i can post pics.PS there were mack tuna busting up all over the west side of peel but no take slugs and couldnt get the plastics close enough as flighty (got to luv the ol 2 stroke lol). Cheers DD.....

hi dave. always good being out there mate. if it were a year back you would have had a nice feed too:-?. sounds like you hooked your deckie tho lol. new rods to start - thats the cheap part tho - squillions in plastics, jigheads and leaders to follow;D you might need to put him onto mossy to catch tho lol;) he offers a good charter service and insists on the crew catching all the fish;D
cheers mate

Mossy n deckmaker it is fun with a deckie as i normally fish alone but it is fun showing another what i learned over the last few years and he has the loot to buy the goods (prob end up with better gear then me lol) so it doubles the rods in the water and i can drive while he casts into the pelagics which have been prolific of late.
